Jolie Chapa

Cultural Director, Kocina las Mitoteras

Jolie Chapa is a proud descendant of Mission San Jose in San Antonio and has been a key figure in preserving and promoting her cultural heritage. As the Co-Director of Kocina las Mitoteras and Cultural Director of SAMIDTX, Jolie has played an instrumental role in shaping the organization’s cultural initiatives. She has developed engaging activities for children at Historic Plaza Days, as well as for school presentations and History and Genealogy Day at Mission San Jose.

In addition to her work with SAMIDTX, Jolie enjoys crafting in her spare time, with a particular passion for beading, sewing, and making dream catchers. These artistic expressions allow her to connect with her cultural traditions and further enrich her life and work within the community.

Jolie’s dedication to the mission of SAMIDTX became evident early on, and she fully embraced the organization’s vision and cultural mission. She is married and enjoys sharing her history and traditions with her husband, who actively participates in kitchen duties during the Frybread Social and Holiday Market, supporting Jolie’s efforts in continuing to contribute to the community.
