Lanora Cruz
Secretary/Treasurer/Director
Lanora Cruz is a dedicated member of the SAMID (San Antonio Mission Indian Descendants) Board of Directors, proudly serving as a descendant of Mission San Jose and Damacio de la Cruz. Her journey into exploring her heritage began as a child with a deep love and passion for history. Questions about where she came from, who her ancestors were, and how their lives shaped her ignited a lifelong quest for answers.
The realization that the stories of the past were slipping away as elders left this world inspired Lanora to take action. This search led her to discover her Native American roots and ultimately connected her with Diana, Margot, and the San Antonio Mission Indian Descendants. Their mentorship, love, and wisdom became a cornerstone of her journey, empowering her to deepen her understanding of her heritage.
Today, Lanora plays a vital role in SAMID as a researcher, Secretary, and Treasurer. She assists applicants in uncovering their family trees and takes pride in helping others connect with their ancestral past. Her work reflects a commitment not only to preserving history but also to empowering others to embrace their roots and heritage.
Beyond her work with SAMID, Lanora is a proud mother to three amazing young men who inspire her daily. She is passionate about continuing her contributions to the growth of SAMID and fostering connections within the community.
